Hindustan Zinc Hosts Advanced Breed Calf Exhibition Under Samadhan Project

Empowering Farmers Through Livestock Development Initiatives

Udaipur, February 24Hindustan Zinc, in collaboration with BAIF, organized a rally and exhibition of advanced breed calves in Malikheda as part of its Samadhan Project. The initiative aims to enhance farmers’ income by improving livestock quality and productivity in surrounding villages.

The event was graced by Rajpura Dariba Complex IBU CEO, Balwant Singh Rathore, along with experts from the Animal Husbandry Department, including Nodal Officer Dr. Nanalal Regar and LEO Lakshmilal Regar.

Knowledge Sharing & Livestock Health Awareness

Experts conducted awareness sessions for farmers on:
Deworming & Vaccination schedules
Timely Artificial Insemination (AI) for breed improvement
Proper animal nutrition & maintenance
Disease prevention & control strategies

More than 40 livestock farmers, including a remarkable participation from women farmers, attended the exhibition with their high-quality calves.

Highlight: Evaluation of Premium Breeds

A key attraction of the event was the evaluation of 20 high-quality calves born through artificial insemination using premium breeds, including:
🔹 Gir
🔹 Sahiwal
🔹 Holstein Friesian
🔹 Murrah Buffalo

The top three calves were recognized based on growth, health, and overall quality, and were awarded special prizes, along with appreciation awards for all participating livestock farmers.

Hindustan Zinc’s Ongoing Breed Improvement Program

Through artificial insemination, Hindustan Zinc has been regularly improving livestock breeds in villages around the Rajpura Dariba region. Farmers have been benefiting from genetic improvement programs involving:

  • Gir, Murrah, Jersey, and Holstein cattle
  • Goat breed enhancements
  • Regular veterinary camps
  • AI, deworming, vaccination, training & mineral mix distribution

Farmers also shared their success stories, highlighting how artificial insemination has improved milk production and increased their income, directly contributing to the national goal of doubling farmers’ income.

Impact of the Samadhan Project

Over the past 10 years, the Samadhan Project has empowered farmers across 36 villages in the Railmagra block, fostering sustainable agricultural and livestock development.

🔹 8,491 artificial inseminations conducted
🔹 2,516 successful livestock births
🔹 1,800 farmers engaged in a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) over the past three years
