Major Relief for Selected Candidates as RPSC Recruitment Process Resumes
Jaipur, March 11: In a significant development, the Rajasthan High Court has lifted the stay on the 2019 Food Safety Officer (FSO) recruitment process, which was imposed on August 24, 2020. This decision brings long-awaited relief to candidates selected under the 2019 recruitment process, conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) for 89 vacant positions.
The order was issued by Justice Sameer Jain, following a petition filed by Kuldeep Chaudhary, a candidate from the 2022 Food Safety Officer recruitment process. The ruling effectively clears the way for the appointment of successful candidates from the 2019 recruitment cycle.
State Government Submits Argument in Favor of Lifting the Stay
During the hearing, the state’s Advocate General (AG) informed the court that the Jodhpur Bench of the High Court had already lifted the stay on the 2019 recruitment process. Since the Jaipur Bench had imposed the stay in alignment with the Jodhpur Bench, the state argued that the same relief should now be granted in Jaipur as well.

✔️ However, the stay on the 2022 Food Safety Officer recruitment remains in place.
Legal Challenge Against Delay in Appointments
Advocate Prakhar Gupta, representing the petitioner, argued that:
- The prolonged stay had unfairly deprived selected candidates of their rightful appointments.
- The state government had failed to take any proactive steps to lift the stay on both the 2019 and 2022 recruitment cycles, even though the selection process was already completed.
- Instead, the state continued to allow ad-hoc personnel to perform Food Safety Officer duties indefinitely, raising concerns about administrative inefficiency and lack of transparency.

Court’s Verdict & Future Implications
After hearing both sides, the High Court ruled in favor of lifting the stay on the 2019 recruitment process, allowing the selected candidates to finally receive their appointments. However, the stay on the 2022 Food Safety Officer recruitment remains in effect for now.
