Guwahati University’s Free Coaching Model Achieves Remarkable Success

Guwahati, February 18: Guwahati University’s free coaching model has achieved notable success in competitive examinations. The university administration announced that 13 candidates who received training under its ‘Initiative for Competitive Examination’ (GUICE) have successfully cleared the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024.

This achievement is a result of the university’s efforts to provide free special interview preparation programs for candidates selected for the final stage of the state civil service examination. The program, operated under the GUICE framework, emphasized mock interviews, personality development, and practical guidance for viva voce. The university aims to provide comprehensive academic support to students for competitive examinations, beyond traditional classroom teaching.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta stated that this result embodies the university’s vision of preparing students for roles in public leadership. He emphasized that competitive examinations are gateways to good governance, and it is the responsibility of universities to actively support candidates in this journey.

Launched in 2024 as a career-oriented initiative, the GUICE has led to the reorganization of the university’s Pre-Examination Training Cell (PETC), which now focuses specifically on civil services and other competitive examinations. The training model combines long-term subject preparation with targeted interview coaching. A special interview practice program was conducted under the supervision of India Bhushan Dev Chaudhary, involving candidates from the 2024-25 batch who had passed the mains examination.

GUICE operates through two dedicated streams: the first is a long-term coaching module that provides in-depth preparation for core subjects, and the second is a special interview preparation module aimed at enhancing candidates’ confidence and clarity through repeated mock sessions.

Registrar Prof. Utpal Sarma mentioned that this program equally focuses on talent and public responsibility. Meanwhile, PETC Deputy Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Dutta expressed confidence that similar initiatives will continue to strengthen the support system for candidates in the future. The university administration congratulated all successful candidates and wished them a bright career in public service.
