Gandhinagar, June 12: On the occasion of the completion of 12 years of the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Gujarat BJP organized a special event themed ’12 Years of Trust, Development, and Public Welfare.’ During the event, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel showcased the achievements of the central government, stating that the past 12 years have marked a new chapter in the country’s development, good governance, and public welfare.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Prime Minister Modi has acted as a guardian for 7.4 million street vendors, empowering them towards self-reliance. Under the PM Street Vendor Scheme, over ₹17,000 crores have been disbursed as loans to street vendors. Additionally, women entrepreneurs have received loans exceeding ₹16 lakh crores under the Mudra Scheme.
He mentioned that numerous accounts have been opened through the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana to secure the future of daughters. Notably, 46% of the beneficiaries of the PM Street Vendor Scheme are women. Across the country, more than 580 million Jan Dhan accounts have been opened, with over 320 million accounts belonging to women.
Bhupendra Patel stated that the Ujjwala Scheme has provided relief to millions of women from illnesses caused by kitchen smoke, with over 100 million women receiving gas connections. He emphasized the government’s goal of making over 30 million women ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and ensuring self-reliance for more than 9.1 million self-help groups. Furthermore, the Nari Shakti Vandan Act aims to ensure 33% participation of women.
The Chief Minister also referenced the central government’s initiatives for tribal communities, noting the national celebration of the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The ‘Dharti Aaba Tribal Utkars Campaign’ is currently working on the development of over 5 million tribals in 33,000 villages, with more than ₹24,000 crores invested in tribal area development and a 243% increase in the tribal welfare budget.
He pointed out that rapid development is taking place in areas like Sanand and Dholera in Gujarat. The country’s first high-speed bullet train project is set to commence from Gujarat, with a ₹20,000 crore high-speed rail project approved to accelerate Dholera’s development.
CM Bhupendra Patel remarked that initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Ayushman Bharat have provided a dignified life to the poor. The benefits of these schemes are being transparently delivered to the people through digital technology and direct benefit transfers. He noted that India has become the world’s largest digital payment system, with over 660 million UPI transactions daily.
The Chief Minister concluded by stating that since 2014, under Narendra Modi’s leadership, the direction of Indian politics has changed, giving a new identity to development-centric politics. He asserted that today, Modi is recognized not only in India but also globally as a leader.
