Government dismisses women safety report by Thomson Reuters

The centre has said that the proclamation is based on an opinion poll, rather than any reports or data calling the ranking a surprise and clearly inaccurate.

In a detailed release, the ministry of woman and child development has raised pertinent questions on the methodology to arrive at the conclusion.

The government has also raised doubts on the veracity of the report.

The BJP also attacked Congress President Rahul Gandhi for targeting the Modi govt over a report which labeled India as most unsafe for women.

The ruling party questioned Rahul Gandhi what was the basis of his support to a report which spoilt the country’s image.

The National Women’s Commission has also dismissed it outrightly.WCD ministry maintains that the life of the average Indian woman is far improved from a decade ago, and concludes that the Facts clearly show that the opinion of India as the most dangerous country for women is not a reflection of reality.
