Google Health version 5.11 is rolling out, introducing substantial enhancements for Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch users. Key updates include the Health Guardian feature and improved activity tracking capabilities.

The Health Guardian function, available to Google Health Premium subscribers, allows users to monitor blood pressure and insulin resistance trends. Detailed reports will be accessible starting in November. Users will receive monthly summaries to help them understand their health patterns better.

Automatic activity tracking has seen a noteworthy upgrade, expanding from detecting 10 to over 100 activities. This enhancement aims to improve accuracy in tracking workouts, utilizing user routines and historical data for better context.

According to Google, the enhanced tracking system is designed to be twice as accurate as previous iterations. Enhanced sleep tracking features have also been incorporated, with improved awake detection and easier nap editing.

The update has also improved glucose tracking. The term “Blood Glucose” has been simplified to “Glucose” within the app, with updated charts to visualize data effectively.

The rollout of version 5.11 is ongoing for both Android and iOS platforms. The new Fitbit Edge, launching on October 27, will also incorporate these enhancements.

In terms of compatibility, the Fitbit Air can now be linked with third-party applications like Flo Health for menstrual cycle tracking and MyFitnessPal for meal logging. This integration is aimed at providing a more holistic view of user health.

Google has phased out the classic Fitbit app, pushing users towards the newer Google Health app. This has marked a significant transition for Fitbit users, as the classic app was central to the brand’s identity in the fitness tracker market.

Google has emphasized the importance of these improvements in making Fitbit devices more intelligent, reliable, and beneficial for users pursuing health goals.
