Jaipur, May 7, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested former minister Mahesh Joshi from his residence in Jaipur in connection with the alleged Rs 900 crore Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam.
According to DIG Dr Rameshwar Singh, the ACB Special Investigation Team (SIT) reached Joshi’s residence in Sain Colony near Jaipur Railway Station at around 5 am on Thursday and took him into custody.
Mahesh Joshi was earlier arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in April 2025 in the same case. He remained in jail for nearly seven months before being granted bail by the Supreme Court on December 3, 2025.
The allegations state that Joshi misused his position as PHED minister and accepted bribes in exchange for awarding tenders. The ACB had registered an FIR against him towards the end of 2024.
The investigation into the scam, which began in 2024, has so far led to the arrest of 10 accused persons, while three others are reported absconding.
The ACB had filed an FIR against former minister Mahesh Joshi and 22 officials in connection with the JJM scam. Those named include JJM financial advisor Sunil Sharma, then chief engineer Ram Karan Meena, Dinesh Goyal, additional chief engineer Arun Srivastava, Ramesh Chand Meena, Paritosh Gupta, superintendent engineer Niril Kumar, Vikas Gupta, Mahendra Prakash Soni, Bhagwan Sahay Jaju, Jitendra Sharma and executive engineer Vishal Saxena.
Sources said the ACB got a major lead in the case through email IDs. During the investigation, officials allegedly involved in the tender process were identified. The accused are alleged to have secured tenders using fake certificates.
