Fake Paneer and Mawa Seized in Udaipur; Over 1,200 Kg Destroyed During Crackdown

Health Officials Conduct Raids Under ‘Pure Food Campaign’ Initiative

Fake Paneer

Udaipur: In a major crackdown on adulterated food products, the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Ashok Aditya along with food safety officers and the DST team raided two stores — Nakoda Agency and Nakoda General Store — located at Delhi Gate, Udaipur. The raid was conducted following a tip-off about the sale of fake paneer (cottage cheese) and mawa (dried milk solids).

Assisted by the police department, the authorities found a tempo delivering 32 kg of paneer to Nakoda Agency and 34 kg to Nakoda General Store. Suspicion arose due to the significantly lower prices — more than ₹100 below market rates — prompting immediate investigation.

Samples were collected and sent to the laboratory for testing. Preliminary reports indicated that the paneer was sub-standard, and legal action will be taken accordingly.

Over 1,200 Kg Adulterated Paneer Seized and Destroyed

Food safety officers Ashok Gupta and Jagdish Prasad Saini collected two samples from the stores and three samples from the delivery vehicle. Upon interrogation, the vehicle operator initially refused to disclose information but, under police pressure, revealed that the paneer was being produced at Rameshwar Agro Milk Company in Nawania, Vallabhnagar. The owner was identified as Ramesh Dangi.

Following this lead, Food Safety Officer Narendra Singh Chauhan was dispatched to Nawania, where 250 kg of adulterated paneer was seized. Further investigations revealed that over 1,200 kg of fake paneer produced by Rameshwar Agro had been supplied to various outlets and was immediately destroyed to prevent its sale.

Continued Vigilance Under ‘Pure Food Campaign’

CMHO Dr. Ashok Aditya emphasized that under the district’s ongoing ‘Shuddh Aahar Milawat Par Waar’ (War Against Adulteration in Pure Food) campaign, daily inspections are being conducted to curb food adulteration.

He appealed to the public, urging citizens to promptly report any suspicion of food adulteration to the health department, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
