Evacuation of stranded Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims in Nepal continues

275 pilgrims were also brought to Simikot from Hilsa. According to Embassy of India in the last 3 days 883 stranded pilgrims have been evacuated from Simikot to Nepalgunj and Surkhet. Similarly, around 675 people were brought to Simikot from Hilsa as Simikot has better basic facilities. 

Since Tuesday 53 flights were operated and 142 sorties were made by choppers including Nepal army and MI 16 Helicopters. More than 600 pilgrims are still stranded in Simikot, Hilsa and Tibet side. 

The Mission has set up camp offices at Simikot and Surkhet to assist pilgrims. Meanwhile, Indian Embassy has issued an advisory for Nepalganj-Simikot-Hilsa route of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It has said that Simikot and Hilsa are extremely infrastructure lean places lacking basic medical, comfortable boarding and lodging facilities. 

The Mission has advised all prospective pilgrims to get themselves medically examined before starting the Yatra and carry sufficient medicine for up to one month. 

It has also asked all prospective pilgrims, state governments and tour agencies to follow and implement advisory issued by the Ministry of External Affairs for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nepal.

Meanwhile, a camp office has been set up at Simikot by the Indian Embassy to assist stranded pilgrims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in touch with MEA and other top officials regarding the well being of Indian pilgrims stranded in Nepal.

In his tweet message he said that he asked officials to extend all possible assistance to those affected. The Indian embassy in Nepal is working on the ground and assisting the pilgrims.
