Pratapgarh, May 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) detained a police inspector after recovering Rs 2,87,150 allegedly linked to a bribery case in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district.

According to the ACB, Praveen Kumar Charan, posted as Station House Officer at Dholapani Police Station, was detained during an operation carried out by the ACB’s Dungarpur unit on May 13, 2026.
Director General of Police, ACB, Govind Gupta said the bureau had received a complaint alleging that the accused officer demanded a bribe from the complainant in exchange for helping in a rape case registered against the complainant’s brother at Dholapani Police Station. The complaint also alleged that the officer promised not to assault the complainant or implicate his father in the case.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Rameshwar Singh and led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ratansingh Rajpurohit.
During the operation, the ACB team intercepted a private vehicle near the Narsinghpura toll plaza on the Nimbahera highway. Officials said the vehicle was being used by the accused officer after allegedly receiving the bribe amount through an acquaintance of the complainant.
During the search, the bureau recovered Rs 2,87,150 from the possession of the accused officer. The ACB stated that the officer failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the cash, following which he was detained.
The investigation and questioning are being carried out under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava. Searches are also underway at the accused officer’s government residence.
The ACB said a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act will be registered and further investigation is continuing.
