While the maximum temperature shot up to 44 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung, which was four degrees above the normal, the mercury touched 46 degrees Celsius at Palam, which was six degrees above the normal.
The met department has warned the day maximum temperatures are “very likely” to remain in the range of 42 to 45 degrees Celsius in most parts of central and northwest India over the next few days.
