New Delhi, June 17: The East District Cyber Police team in Delhi has successfully dismantled an organized cyber fraud gang that deceived individuals under the pretext of providing jobs abroad, leading to the arrest of two suspects. The accused lured unemployed youth and job seekers by promising employment in reputed companies in Japan.
According to police reports, the action was initiated based on a complaint from a victim who alleged that he was cheated out of ₹1.63 lakh with a promise of a job in Japan. Following the complaint, an e-FIR was registered at the East District Cyber Police station, and an investigation commenced.
The investigation revealed that the fraudsters posed as recruitment consultants and officials from foreign companies, contacting individuals and claiming that their resumes had been shortlisted for lucrative jobs abroad. Subsequently, they collected money in various installments under the guise of document verification, visa processing, embassy clearance, attestation reports, and other formalities.
During the financial trail investigation, police discovered a bank account belonging to one of the accused, Kush Bhatnagar, which had a significant amount deposited from the victim. It was also found that the money was distributed across several accounts, including that of co-accused Amit, who allegedly played a role in withdrawing and transferring the fraudulent funds.
In connection with the investigation, police raided Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and arrested both suspects. Interrogation and digital evidence indicated that the duo was linked to a larger cyber fraud network targeting job seekers across the country.
Authorities recovered mobile phones, SIM cards, recruitment-related email accounts, information on online portals, WhatsApp chats, and other digital evidence from the arrested individuals. These were reportedly used to send fake job offers in the names of foreign companies.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Kush Bhatnagar (22) and Amit (23), both residents of the CB Ganj area in Bareilly. According to police records, no prior criminal cases have been registered against them.
