Udaipur : Amidst the ongoing statewide protest by the police personnel against the proposed salary reduction, a constable tried to end his life by consuming sleeping pills in Pratapgarh on thursday. Constable Subash Chandra is presently posted at the SP office who was hospitalized in acriticial condition after he ate sleeping pills in a bid to commit suicide.
A 5 paged suicide note was also found from his pocket in which he wrote about the plight of the police staff who lived a miserable life. In his letter the jawaan wrote that it is due to the policemen that people live a secured life and the ministers attain protection. But the government is insensitive by proposing a pay reduction. The suicide note also said that constables and the lower grade staff are bound to suffer under immense pressure from their officers. They have no way to express their concerns and issues. The move came as a big shock to the police department specially at a time when the staff has boycotted the mess service and working with a black band tied on their hands as a symbol of protest.
