Ranchi, August 12: In the midst of ongoing student protests over alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations, four ministers from the Congress party in Jharkhand have leveled serious accusations against the BJP. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, and Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirki held a joint press conference on Wednesday, claiming that the BJP is attempting to exploit the student movement for political gain.
The ministers alleged that the BJP orchestrated disturbances by bringing in people from other states to participate in protests outside the assembly. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore stated that the government was prepared to discuss student issues in the assembly on August 10, but the opposition BJP chose to surround the Chief Minister’s residence instead of engaging in dialogue.
He claimed that the BJP attempted to escalate the protests by calling in party workers from Bihar, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. Despite these provocations, Kishore noted that the government and administration maintained restraint. He emphasized that the protesters reaching the gates of the assembly poses a serious concern for parliamentary order and called for a high-level investigation into the entire incident.
Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari mentioned that he visited the sadar hospital late at night to meet student leader Devendra Nath Mahto, who was on a hunger strike. Ansari claimed that Mahto acknowledged that some individuals were attempting to divert the movement. He added that the government has accepted nearly 95 percent of the students’ demands and remains open to discussions on the remaining issues.
Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh expressed sorrow over any injuries sustained by students during the protests, stating that the government seeks to resolve issues through dialogue with the youth. She pointed out that since 2015, there have been 152 cases of paper leaks in the state, yet no one has been punished in any of these cases.
According to her, the BJP is trying to divert the investigation following the government’s actions. Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirki demanded an apology from BJP state president Aditya Sahu for his accusations. She also dismissed allegations made against Rahul Gandhi by the BJP, asserting that the police attempted to manage the situation according to established protocols during the protests.
The ministers reiterated that the government is committed to a fair investigation and improvement of the examination system related to JPSC and JSSC. Congress leaders emphasized that the government prefers to resolve issues through dialogue and that matters concerning students’ futures should not be politicized.
