Udaipur :Situation remained tense throughout the day in Ambamata area as large number of people staged dharna outside the police station here demanding compensation over death of a youth who was found hanging from a ceiling of contractor’s house on tuesday night. The victim’s family refused to send the body for autopsy until an ex-gratia of 10 lakh rupees was paid to them. Extra forces were called in anticipation as hundreds of people from the Gameti community collected outside the police station. Finally the protest ended after a settlement was agreed for 7 lakh rupees, the post mortem was conducted later afternoon.

The victim worked as a tractor driver for the contractor on daily wages six months ago and was asked to discontinue the job thus leaving him unemployed. The victim Bhanvar so Tejram Gameti resident of Eklavya colony had gone to his former employer Hitesh Chhajed’s home in MullaTalai area on tuesday night. Chajjed was a building material supplier and Bhanwar worked as the driver of his tractor. Bhanwar pleaded with the supplier to keep him back on work. ” Bhanwar was heavily drunk and seeing his condition Chhajed asked him to sleep in one of the rooms in his house. Some time later when Chhajed went to check the driver, he found the room locked from inside and saw his body hanging from the ceiling” informed Netrapal Singh, SHO Ambamata police station.

However, when Bhanvar’s family came to know about the incident they gathered outside the police station and created much commotion. The family members alleged that the supplier had been pressurizing Bhanwar to pay 20 thousand rupees against a loan of 2 thousand that the latter had taken from him. They also raised question why the supplier had asked Bhanwar to sleep at his home as the victim’s home was hardly a kilometer away from his place. A case against the supplier has been registered and the police has begun the investigation.
