Jaipur, December 4 (Udaipur Kiran): A drop in temperatures has been recorded across the state due to cold northern winds, with the maximum impact seen in the Shekhawati region and surrounding areas. Night temperatures in six cities fell below 5 degrees Celsius. Fatehpur recorded the coldest night at 2.2 degrees Celsius. A further dip in temperatures is likely in the coming days.

According to the Meteorological Department, night temperatures in 15 cities dropped below 10 degrees Celsius. Besides Fatehpur, minimum temperatures were recorded at 2.9°C in Lunkaransar, 3.8°C in Sikar, 4.7°C in Churu, 4.8°C in Dausa, 5°C in Alwar, 5.4°C in Pilani, 6.1°C in Jhunjhunu, 6.3°C in Karauli, 7.5°C in Sri Ganganagar, 7.8°C in Vanasthali, 8.2°C in Bikaner, 8.7°C in Sirohi and 9.6°C in Jaisalmer. Barmer remained the warmest place in the state, with a maximum temperature of 29.6°C and a minimum of 14°C.
Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, Radheshyam Sharma, said that dry weather is likely to prevail over most parts of the state for the next one week. Over the next two to three days, some places in the Shekhawati region may see minimum temperatures between 3°C and 5°C, with the possibility of cold wave conditions in isolated areas. In most other parts of the state, minimum temperatures are expected to remain around normal.
Jaipur also witnessed a rise in cold conditions. Although bright sunshine was seen during the day, the city recorded a fall of 0.6°C in the day temperature and 3°C in the night temperature. Jaipur’s maximum temperature was recorded at 24.9°C and the minimum at 10.7°C. Light winds also prevailed in the city.
