Cloth merchant shot dead in Udaipur

Udaipur : Unknown assailants shot dead a 30-year-old cloth merchant at Goverdhanvilas area near Saras Dairy on Saturday. His body was spotted by a passerby who informed the police in the early morning, the murder took place past midnight, cops said. The victim was identified as Rakesh Khatwani, resident of J block of Goverdhan Vilas area and his two wheeler was also found few yards away from his body.

“Khatwani had a cloth store and also was involved in the money lending business. He had dropped his family at their home after returning from market and left the house around 9 pm claiming to return within few minutes” Ravindra Charan, SHO Goverdhan Vilas police station said. When Khatwani didn’t come back even by 12pm, his wife got worried and informed their relatives.

They set off to search him at their end, however they couldn’t get a clue until in the morning when the victim’s body was found. The victim had sustained a bullet shot on the right side of his chest. Cops are relying on the CCTV  footages from nearby areas to get a clue of the assailants. Family members too seem clueless of the reasons behind the murder as the victim didn’t had animosity with anyone. Loot could be one of the probable reasons behind the murder, cops said.
