New Delhi, October 19 (Udaipur Kiran): A shocking case of double murder unfolded late Saturday night in Delhi’s Nabi Karim area, where a woman and her alleged lover were stabbed to death following a dispute over an affair. The woman’s husband was critically injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to police, the deceased have been identified as Ashu alias Shailendra (34), a resident of Amar Puri, Nabi Karim, and Shalini (22), a resident of Pratap Nagar. Shalini’s husband Akash (23) sustained serious injuries and is admitted to a hospital. Shalini, who was pregnant, also lost her unborn child in the incident.
The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday when Akash and Shalini went to meet Shalini’s mother, Sheela, at her residence on Qutub Road. During the visit, Ashu arrived and attacked Akash with a knife. Akash managed to escape the initial assault, but Ashu then turned towards Shalini, who was sitting in an e-rickshaw, and stabbed her multiple times.
When Akash tried to save his wife, Ashu attacked him as well. In the scuffle, Akash overpowered Ashu and stabbed him with the same knife. All three were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Shalini and Ashu dead. Akash remains under treatment.
Police investigations revealed that Shalini and Akash were married with two children, and she was pregnant at the time of the attack. Shalini had previously been in a relationship with Ashu and had lived with him in a live-in arrangement, but later reconciled with her husband. This reportedly angered Ashu, who allegedly claimed to be the father of her unborn child.
Police sources said Ashu was a listed criminal (BC) at Nabi Karim Police Station, while three criminal cases are also registered against Akash. The police have registered a case of murder and attempted murder, seized the bodies for postmortem, and launched further investigation into the incident.
