Tirupati, March 1: Chief Justice of India Suryakant visited the Sri Venkateswara Temple on Sunday for prayers. He arrived in Tirumala on Saturday evening, where he was welcomed by B.R. Naidu, Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), Executive Officer Mudda Ravi Chandra, Additional Executive Officer C.H. Venkayya Chaudhary, and District Police Superintendent L. Subbarayudu.
During his visit, the priests conducted a traditional welcome with Vedic chants. After offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara, the priests presented the Chief Justice with a ‘Shesh Vastra’. Vedic scholars also performed ‘Veda Shirvachan’ for him at the Ranganayakula Mandapam. TTD officials gifted him with temple prasadam and an image of the deity. Later, the Chief Justice visited the Sri Varahaswamy Temple.
It is noteworthy that the TTD has announced that due to a lunar eclipse on March 3, slot tokens for darshan on March 2 and 3 will not be issued. Tokens for March 4 will be released on March 3. Additionally, the TTD has stated that VIP break darshan will also be canceled on March 3, and no recommendation letters will be accepted on March 2.
Devotees are requested to take note of these changes and cooperate with temple officials. The TTD has previously announced that the Tirumala Temple will be closed for approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes on March 3 due to the lunar eclipse, from 9 AM to 7:30 PM. The eclipse will begin at 3:20 PM and end at 6:47 PM. According to tradition, the temple doors will close six hours before the eclipse begins, reopening at 7:30 PM for purification rituals, with darshan resuming at 8:30 PM. The TTD has confirmed that Arjita services and VIP break darshan will be canceled.
