March 26, 2025 – Udaipur / Chittorgarh, Rajasthan – In a decisive action against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Udaipur team has arrested ASI Babulal Meena of Akola Police Station, Chittorgarh district, while accepting a ₹15,000 bribe.

The arrest was made based on a complaint filed by Prakash Gadari, who alleged that the ASI demanded money in relation to an FIR filed concerning a Nata (customary marriage) dispute involving his wife.
Bribe Demanded for Settling FIR Linked to Nata Marriage Dispute
According to ACB Additional SP Anoop Kumar, the complainant alleged that ASI Babulal Meena was pressuring him for a bribe to settle the legal proceedings arising from a complex marital dispute. Preliminary verification confirmed the bribe demand.
On Tuesday evening, under the leadership of Inspector Narpat Singh, the ACB team caught ASI Meena red-handed while accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant. Earlier, it was revealed that the ASI had already collected ₹50,000 for a settlement agreement in the case.
Case Background: A Complex Marital Fraud Alleged by Complainant
The case traces back to Prakash Gadari’s allegation that after entering into a Nata marriage, his wife later returned to her previous husband, allegedly after orchestrating a fraudulent plan with her family.
He claimed that:
-
She coerced him into marriage by falsely filing rape and harassment charges with the help of her relatives.
-
He was forced to pay ₹7.11 lakh to her former husband as part of a fabricated settlement.
-
Post-marriage, she gave birth to a child but abandoned both the child and the family, fleeing with ₹2 lakh in cash and gold jewelry.
Prakash subsequently approached the Akola police station to file a new report. When the FIR was registered through the court, ASI Meena allegedly demanded a bribe to influence the case proceedings.
