Class 10 Exams to Be Held Twice a Year

For the first time, CBSE will conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year. The second set of exams is scheduled between May 15 and June 1, 2026. This new system is aimed at reducing academic pressure and providing students with an opportunity to improve their performance.

Key Features of the New Exam Pattern

  1. In the optional second exam, students can improve scores in three subjects from Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages.

  2. Students studying in winter-bound schools will have the flexibility to appear in either of the two exams.

  3. However, any student absent in three or more subjects during the first exam will not be allowed to appear in the second exam.

CBSE officials stated that the new pattern is designed to make the examination system more student-friendly and stress-free, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
