Palermo (Sicily), August 23 (Udaipur Kiran) – The body of prominent British industrialist Mike Lynch was found on Thursday in the wreckage of a yacht off the coast of Sicily, Italy. The yacht had sunk during a tornado. Lynch’s daughter, Hannah, is still missing.
The yacht had 10 crew members and 12 passengers onboard. Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, and 14 others were rescued. This maritime accident has been widely covered in British and American newspapers. The Sicilian coast is an autonomous region of Italy, separated from Tunisia by the 90-mile-wide Sicilian Strait. It is 272 kilometers away from Sardinia.
According to media reports, the search for Lynch’s missing daughter, Hannah, is ongoing. The 56-meter-long yacht was anchored near the port of Porticello when the tornado struck. Recently, Mike Lynch was acquitted in an $11 billion fraud case in the United States. He was often referred to as Britain’s Bill Gates. Luca Carri, a spokesperson for the fire brigade, mentioned that finding Hannah’s body might take time, as the yacht is 165 feet deep. A judicial inquiry into this disaster has begun. Ambrogio Cartosio, leading the investigation, will hold a press conference on Saturday.
