BJP Set to Form Government in Bengal with Two-Third Majority: Sukanta Majumdar

Kolkata, May 1: Union Minister and BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar claimed on Friday that the BJP is poised to form a government in Bengal with a two-thirds majority. He stated that even those residing outside Bengal have come to vote against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

In an interview with a news agency, Majumdar expressed confidence that under PM Modi’s leadership, the BJP is set for a significant victory. Addressing the strongroom controversy, he mentioned that Mamata Banerjee and the TMC have accepted their position as the opposition. “The opposition mode is now activated,” he said, asserting that Banerjee has acknowledged her role as the leader of the opposition.

Majumdar further noted that the Election Commission has responded to all allegations made by the TMC. Regarding the investigation into corruption under Banerjee’s government, he stated that it will be up to the Chief Minister and her cabinet to decide on the next steps. He assured that the government would take strict action wherever necessary.

On the issue of Islamic extremism, Majumdar emphasized that it must come to an end. He refrained from commenting further, stating that once the government is formed, the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers will address the matter. He affirmed that it is essential to eliminate Islamic extremism from Bengal, while good individuals should practice their faith respectfully. Extremism, he stated, is unacceptable.

Discussing border fencing, he mentioned that the central government will provide land to the BSF to expedite the fencing work. The upcoming BJP government will adhere to the principles of detect, delete, and deport.

To prevent violence in Bengal, he noted that Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the deployment of central forces in the state for two months. Majumdar asserted that the BJP will restore democracy in West Bengal and confidently declared that the BJP is on track to form the government. He predicted that the TMC will cease to exist post-election and stated that the parliamentary committee will decide on the Chief Minister.
