Chandigarh, May 1: The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made serious allegations against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Sunil Jakhar, the state BJP president, claimed that two ministers were subjected to disrespect during a cabinet meeting held on Friday. Jakhar also demanded that the ruling party’s legislators undergo breath analyzer tests.
Speaking to reporters, Jakhar stated, “During the Punjab cabinet meeting on Friday morning, two ministers were insulted. The language used was highly inappropriate, and it is better not to mention it.” He added that not only the two ministers but also the Chief Secretary was treated similarly.
Referring to a special session of the Punjab Assembly, Jakhar emphasized that if the government appears in a drunken state, it would be an insult to the Assembly. “I believe the Assembly is a temple of democracy. Violating its decorum is also an insult. The government appears in such a state during special sessions,” he remarked.
Jakhar further stated that while a drug test is out of the question, he believes that a breath analyzer test should be conducted for the ruling party leaders. “The floor test can happen later, but the breath analyzer test should be conducted first. This is my demand. Chief Minister, whether you conduct the floor test or not, or hold a vote on the no-confidence motion or not, the leaders of the Punjab Assembly must undergo a breath analyzer test today,” he insisted.
Earlier, Jakhar noted, “Every session is important in its own right, but when a special session is called, its significance increases even more. Are the leaders running Punjab intoxicated with power, or are they under the influence of some other substance? The conditions they are exhibiting are a very serious matter.”
