Bihar Assembly Speaker asks govt. to review land registration provisions

Patna, Mar 8 ( ) Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha on Tuesday asked the Treasury bench to review the existing land registration provision to make it transparent and corruption free and inform the house. Intervening into the reply to a call attention of Vijay Kumar Khemka being made by the Excise and Revenue Minister S l Kumar in the state assembly, the Speaker said that 5527 cases related to registration of land were reported which openly indicate some irregularities. The speaker wanted to know whether any alternative arrangement to check corruption and maintain transparency exists in the registration process?. He asked the Minister to review and inform the house during the ongoing budget session. Earlier through his call attention, Khemka said that only the registration officer has the power to decide the category of any land and in due process the land registration offices were misusing their post. He demanded for a transparent and corruption free system and maintained that earlier it was decided by a committee with District Magistrate, Block Development Officer and Circle Officer as its members. The speaker also said that conferring the entire power upon a single officer removing DM, BDO and CO from the committee was improper and asked the Minister to review it for its transparency. RS BM
