New Delhi, October 28 (Udaipur Kiran): Electronic Arts (EA) has officially announced Battlefield Redsec — the highly anticipated free-to-play Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 6. The mode, short for “Redacted Sector,” will release on October 28, coinciding with the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 1.
Available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Battlefield Redsec will support up to 100 players in large-scale matches featuring vehicles, destructible environments, and a more tactical gameplay experience. EA confirmed that a gameplay trailer will premiere when the mode goes live at 8 a.m. PT (8:30 p.m. IST).
The announcement follows days of leaks that hinted at both the name and release date of the mode. EA had earlier confirmed that Battlefield 6 would receive a Battle Royale experience but had not specified when it would arrive.
The new mode launches alongside Season 1’s additional content, including a new multiplayer map, a 4v4 mode, and several new weapons. EA described Redsec as offering the “deadliest ring” in Battle Royale history — unlike other games, contact with the shrinking ring will result in instant death.
In preparation for the launch, developers have fine-tuned gameplay elements such as time-to-kill, armor plates, vehicle balance, and environmental interactions. Early leaks also suggest that Redsec will offer Duos and Squads playlists and support proximity chat for real-time communication between players.
Much like Call of Duty: Warzone, Battlefield Redsec may arrive as a standalone free-to-play app, giving players access without purchasing Battlefield 6.
The main game, Battlefield 6, launched on October 10, selling over seven million copies in just three days, marking the biggest release in the franchise’s history.
