Baran police have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting five accused involved in a firing incident and capturing a fugitive murderer who had been hiding for 30 years disguised as a sadhu. These operations were carried out under the guidance of SP Abhishek Andasu.
On December 14, Naveen Panal, a resident of Housing Board, was called to Bara Balaji under the pretext of a discussion. There, Kapil Meena, Vikas alias Bablu, and their associates opened fire on Naveen and his companion Rahul due to an old rivalry. Naveen sustained injuries in the attack. Following this, a case was registered under various sections, and investigation began.
Under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chaudhary, a special team used technical analysis and ground intelligence to track the accused. The police surrounded the suspects near the Parvati river and detained Kapil Meena, Vikas alias Bablu, Ritesh Gurjar, Chanchal Singh of Ulthi, and Hemant Gurjar of Saygarh police station. The accused have been taken on remand for weapon recovery.
In a separate operation coordinated with Madhya Pradesh police, Baran police arrested Rambharos Singh Shikari from Ashoknagar, MP, wanted for a murder case dating back to 1993. After being sentenced by the Gwalior High Court, he had been absconding for decades.
SP Andasu stated that Rambharos was living disguised as a sadhu in an ashram by the river near Heekad village in Baran, performing religious services to avoid suspicion. The team led by Station House Officer Heeralal arrested him and handed him over to Madhya Pradesh police.
Key officers involved in these successful operations include SHO Heeralal, ASI Laxmichand, Abdul Farid, Constables Rakesh, Sushil, Rohitashv, Suresh, and Rambabu.
