Bajaj Auto recently launched its much-awaited Freedom 125 CNG bike that has created a buzz in the entry-level bike segment in India. This bike is comparable to many competitors, but how does it compare to the Hero Xtreme 125R? Let’s take a look at the specs, price, features and more.

Bajaj Freedom 125 vs Hero Xtreme 125R: Engine specs and mileage

Both motorcycles use a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine.

However, the Freedom 125 has a special feature. This versatile engine can run on both petrol and CNG, a first in the two-wheeler segment. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and produces 9.5 HP and 9.7 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the Extreme 125R produces a maximum power of 11.5 HP and a maximum torque of 10.5 Nm. This makes it one of the most powerful motorcycles in the 125cc segment.

In terms of fuel consumption, Hero claims that the bike can travel up to 66 km per liter of petrol. On the other hand, the Freedom 125 has a total range of 330 km, 102 km per kg of CNG and 65 km per liter of petrol. Bajaj bikes have a clear advantage when it comes to fuel consumption.

The entry-level Freedom 125 features a drum brake system on both the front and rear wheels. The top model is equipped with 240 mm disc brakes at the front and 130 mm drum brakes at the rear. The suspension uses a combination of telescopic forks at the front and a single shock absorber unit at the rear. Features include LED front and rear lights, a digital LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, missed call notification, caller ID, battery status and a USB port.

The Hero Xtreme 125R features a 37mm telescopic fork and a preload-adjustable Showa monoshock at the front. The top model is equipped with 276 mm front disc brakes, rear drum brakes and single-channel ABS. Xtreme 125R has other features like full LED lighting, LCD screen and Bluetooth connectivity with SMS and call alert.

Bajaj Freedom 125 vs Hero Xtreme 125R: Price

The Freedom 125 is available in three variants priced at just Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). The mid-range variant is priced at Rs 1.05 lakh and the top-end variant is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh, both prices ex-showroom.

On the other hand, the Xtreme 125R comes in two variants: IBS priced at Rs 95,000 and ABS priced at Rs 99,500.

Choosing between these two bikes depends on your priorities. If you are looking for more power, features and sporty looks, Hero Xtreme 125 might be the best option for you. However, if fuel efficiency and low running costs are a priority, the Bajaj Freedom 125 is a game-changer with its innovative twin-fuel option.
