Bajaj Auto, a major automobile company, has launched a special edition of its electric scooter, Chetak 3201. Priced at Rs. 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), this limited edition will be exclusively sold on the e-commerce platform Amazon. The company has made some upgrades to this special edition.
The company has stated that this is the first such collaboration between an electric vehicle company and Amazon. Customers can purchase the electric scooter online, and the paperwork will be completed at the company’s dealership. Recently, Bajaj Auto announced a partnership with Flipkart for online sales of its motorcycles. Eric Vas, President, Urbanite, said, “We are excited to expand our partnership with Amazon. The Chetak’s robust metal frame brings the trust and durability that customers expect from Bajaj Auto.”
The new Chetak 3201 special edition features quilted seats and a Brooklyn Black paint scheme for the top-end variant. It offers an ARAI certified range of 136 kilometers on a single charge and can reach a top speed of 73 kmph. It comes with features like Bluetooth connectivity via the Chetak app, a color TFT instrument console, and auto hazard lights. The company has stated that the Chetak Premium, Chetak Urbane (3202), and the new Chetak 3201 special edition have received approval from the Ministry of Heavy Industries for the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS).
Last month, Bajaj Auto launched its first CNG motorcycle, the Freedom 125. This motorcycle runs on petrol but can be switched to compressed natural gas (CNG) with the press of a button. The base variant of this motorcycle, Drum, starts at around Rs. 95,000. The Freedom 125 has a range of around 330 kilometers. It comes with a 2-kilogram CNG tank and a 2-liter petrol tank. The CNG tank is located under the seat. It is available in three variants: Drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED, and seven dual-tone colors. The top variant is priced at around Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The company also plans to introduce a 400 cc single-cylinder Pulsar this year.
