Raipur: At least 18 Maoists were killed in a major clash with security forces in the deep forests of Kankar area of Bastar district on Tuesday afternoon. During this conflict, three members of the Border Guard and District Reserve Guard security forces were shot dead and the evacuation process is underway. The exact number of deaths has not yet been determined, but reliable sources in the security forces say that the bodies of 18 Maoists were found.

More than 10 automatic weapons, including AK47, 303 and seven light machine guns, were also seized from the site of the clash, officials said, adding that 78 Maoists were also arrested. This is one of the biggest casualties in Operation Bastar.
