Demanded 20% Commission for Clearing Contractor’s Bill; Caught Red-Handed in DFO Office
Major Anti-Corruption Action in Chittorgarh
Udaipur : In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Special Team from Kota has trapped two forest department officials in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Ranger Rajendra Choudhary and Assistant Forester Rajendra Meena, both posted at Borav Range in Rawatbhata, were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe in exchange for clearing a contractor’s bill.
The duo allegedly demanded 20% commission from a contractor for approving a pending payment. They were apprehended after receiving ₹78,000 in cash and a cheque of ₹1.20 lakh inside the DFO Office in Chittorgarh.
The Case: Contractor’s Pending Bill Worth ₹21 Lakh
According to Additional SP Mukul Sharma, the complainant had secured a government tender for digging pits in Borav Range and had completed the work. However, a bill worth ₹21 lakh was pending clearance. The accused officials allegedly demanded a bribe amounting to 22% of the total payment — 20% for the ranger and assistant forester, and 2% for personal gain.
The complainant approached ACB and filed a formal complaint.
Trapped Red-Handed After Verification
Following a successful verification of the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap. On Sunday, the accused accepted ₹50,000 as a part payment. Today, the remaining amount was to be handed over in the DFO Office. As soon as the transaction was made, the ACB team nabbed both officials on the spot.
The operation is currently underway, and further investigations are expected.
