Udaipur, March 12, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has detained a police constable posted with the Special Team of Circle Nagar East in Udaipur for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant. The accused has been identified as Nagendra Singh (Constable No. 1186), who was caught red-handed during a trap operation on Wednesday.

According to officials, the action was carried out by the ACB Special Unit, Udaipur, following directions from the ACB headquarters. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police, ACB Udaipur Range. The trap was led by Rajeev Joshi, Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB Special Unit, Udaipur, along with Inspector Laxman Dangi and the team.
Director General of Police, ACB, Govind Gupta said the complainant had lodged a complaint stating that he runs a car service garage near the Eklingpura underpass towards Pratapnagar Road. Around four to five days earlier, three to four policemen in plain clothes arrived at his garage in a government vehicle. They identified themselves as members of the Deputy Superintendent’s Special Team.
The complainant alleged that the team members checked vehicles parked at the garage and threatened him by claiming he was dismantling stolen vehicles. Despite showing documents of the vehicles, the officers allegedly warned him of legal action, accusing him of employing minors and not paying GST, and threatened to get his garage sealed.
The complainant further stated that the policemen repeatedly visited the garage and demanded a monthly bribe of ₹50,000 in exchange for not taking action against him. After negotiations, they allegedly agreed to accept ₹25,000. Following verification proceedings conducted by the ACB on March 6, it was confirmed that the accused had demanded the bribe and later agreed to accept ₹20,000.
Acting on this verification, the ACB team laid a trap on March 11 and caught Constable Nagendra Singh red-handed while accepting ₹20,000 from the complainant.
During preliminary questioning, the accused told investigators that the Special Team usually operates with members Shakti Singh (Sub-Inspector), Arjun Singh (Head Constable), and Anil Meena (Constable). He also stated that the team generally travels in a government vehicle, but on Wednesday he had arrived alone on a motorcycle.
ACB officials said the other accused team members—Shakti Singh, Arjun Singh, and Anil Meena—are currently being searched for.
The investigation and further action are being carried out under the supervision of Smita Srivastava, Additional Director General of Police, ACB Rajasthan, Jaipur. The bureau has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is underway.
