Colombo, February 14: Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has confirmed that young opener Abhishek Sharma will play in the high-stakes match against Pakistan on Sunday. Abhishek’s father expressed his happiness over his son’s inclusion in the India-Pakistan match and extended his best wishes to the Indian team, hoping for a stellar performance from his son.
Abhishek was hospitalized in a private facility in New Delhi on Monday due to a stomach infection, which prevented the 25-year-old from playing in the match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, the captain has now endorsed his participation in the upcoming match against Pakistan.
Rajkumar Sharma stated, “This is going to be a fantastic match. We send our best wishes to the Indian team. We hope they play well and perform strongly. It’s a very good team, and of course, we want India to win. Since the World Cup is happening in India, people are celebrating, and there is a lot of joy among the fans.”
He added, “Everyone is congratulating the team. Team India is playing very well. I just hope they continue to perform well. I especially hope that Abhishek plays well. Our prayers are always with him. May he continue to play for India and help the country win. That is our heartfelt wish.”
