Udaipur, August 10, 2026: A theft involving equipment worth lakhs of rupees has been reported from the solar power plant at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Balicha, under the Govardhan Vilas police station area of Udaipur. The plant representative has reported the theft of around 5,000 metres of cable, 1,400 connectors and LAN cables.
The theft has left the solar power plant non-operational.
Solar Plant Equipment Damaged
According to the complaint submitted by solar plant representative Ganesh Swami before the Superintendent of Police, a 500-kilowatt solar power plant of NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited has been installed on the IIM campus. The institute receives its electricity supply from this plant.
According to the report, thieves entered the plant during the night of July 25-26. They allegedly damaged equipment and solar panels installed at the plant.
The thieves reportedly took away around 5,000 metres of DC cable, 1,400 MC-4 connectors and LAN cables from the solar plant.
