The accused, Imtiyaz Ansari, Haider Ali, Mujib Ullah, Omair Siddiqui and Azharuddin Qureishi, were found guilty and convicted on May 25 by Special NIA judge Manoj Kumar Sinha. The court was convinced that the intention was to cause heavy casualties and maximum punishment under the law followed.
The world-renowned Buddhist pilgrimage town of Bodh Gaya was rocked by a series of blasts on July 7, 2013 which had left a number of people, including some monks injured. The court had reserved its verdict after the arguments on May 11 this year. The defence has said that it will go in appeal in the higher court against the verdict.
