Udaipur, April 26 (Udaipur Kiran): Sukher Police carried out action against illegal hookah operations running under the guise of cafes, arresting two accused from separate locations and seizing hookah equipment and tobacco products.
Station House Officer Bharat Yogi said that during evening patrol on Saturday, police received information about illegal activities. Acting on the tip-off, a raid was conducted at Friendzone Cafe located at Khara Kuan, 100 Feet Road. The police detained Vivek Thakur, a resident of Dudipura, Agra, who was found serving hookah to customers illegally. Two hookahs, related equipment, and five boxes of tobacco flavours were seized from the spot. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
In another operation, police raided Raag Cafe situated above City Light Hotel on 100 Feet Road. The accused, Sunil Bhogora, a resident of Ovra Baghpura, was found serving hookah to customers. Police seized two hookahs, related material, and four boxes of tobacco flavours. A case has been registered against him as well.
Both accused have been arrested and further legal action is being taken.
Police also highlighted that earlier, on March 8, a joint operation with the DST team led to raids at four locations across three police station areas. During that कार्रवाई, 26 hookahs, 32 hookah pipes, 69 flavour packets of different brands, eight chillums, and cigarette packets were seized.
Authorities said that Ambamata, Badgaon, and Sukher areas have reported the highest number of such illegal hookah setups in the city. Despite repeated कार्रवाई in February and March, including action against five hookah bars and arrest of five accused, such operations continue to surface, particularly in the Sukher area.
