YouTube Music brings sound search to Android and iOS

YouTube Music has officially launched its long-awaited audio search feature for Android and iOS users. This innovative tool allows users to recognize and identify songs by humming, humming or playing the melody part.

Previously tested in a limited edition, Audio Search is now generally available. It uses artificial intelligence technology to match the input audio data to a huge music catalog.

Users can access this feature by tapping the waveform icon in the YouTube Music search bar.

The new addition to YouTube Music is revolutionizing the way people discover and enjoy music, making it easier than ever to find that elusive catchy tune.

  1. Open the YouTube Music app: Launch the app on your Android or iOS device.
  2. Tap the search bar: Look for the magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen and tap on it.
  3. Find the waveform icon: Next to the microphone icon, you’ll see a waveform icon. Tap on this to activate Sound Search.
  4. Hum or sing: Start humming or singing the melody of the song you’re trying to find. You can also play a short snippet of the song if you have it.
  5. Wait for results: YouTube Music’s AI will analyse the sound and provide you with a list of potential matches.

Tips for better results:

  • Try to hum or sing as accurately as possible.
  • The longer the audio sample, the better the chances of finding a match.
  • If you’re unsure about the melody, try humming a recognisable part of the song.
