Gorakhpur, September 5 (Udaipur Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the transformative role of teachers during a Teacher’s Day celebration in Gorakhpur on September 5, 2026. He remarked that education and values are foundational to empowering a nation, asserting that teachers do more than impart knowledge; they shape responsible citizens.
Adityanath pointed out that prior to 2017, serious questions surrounded the state’s education system, with discussions about rampant cheating. He noted that the perception of Uttar Pradesh among youths and educators in other states was often negative. However, he highlighted that over the past nine and a half years, significant changes have occurred, leading to a newfound respect for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also discussed improvements in law and order, recalling a time when curfews and riots were commonplace. He cited the recent celebration of Janmashtami, where events were held across the state without any reports of disturbances, contrasting it with the past when educational institutions faced challenges due to insecurity.
Adityanath praised India’s long-standing tradition of valuing knowledge and the role of teachers, linking festivals like Vasant Panchami and Guru Purnima to this heritage. He stated that Teacher’s Day serves as an opportunity to connect educators with the rich knowledge tradition of the country.
During the ceremony at the Yogiraj Baba Gorakhnath Auditorium, the Chief Minister honored 81 distinguished teachers, deviating from protocol to personally recognize each one. He expressed his understanding of the effort these teachers made to attend from various districts, highlighting their commitment to education.
He concluded by urging teachers to not only educate but also to instill values and a sense of responsibility towards the nation in their students, reinforcing the idea that the presence and enthusiasm of educators bring renewed energy to such celebrations.
