Guwahati, April 8: In the 13th match of IPL 2026 held at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday. Due to rain, the match was reduced to 11 overs per side, resulting in MI suffering a 27-run defeat. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played a crucial role in RR’s victory, was named Player of the Match.
After the match, Jaiswal shared his strategy, stating, “With only three overs in the powerplay, I was thinking about which bowler to target. When Deepak Chahar bowled his first over, I planned to go after him. Following that, Vaibhav attacked Jasprit Bumrah.”
Jaiswal emphasized his focus during the game, saying, “I stay completely immersed in the match, constantly thinking about which shots to play and which bowlers to be aggressive against. I continuously work on new shots and try to adapt to different pitches. When a specific shot is needed, I attempt it without hesitation, understanding the situation and adjusting my game according to the team’s needs.”
He also praised his opening partner, Vaibhav Suryawanshi, saying, “He is playing brilliantly and working very hard. We keep communicating and sending positive messages to each other. I don’t give him any directions; he is a smart player who understands the game well. He is enjoying his cricket.”
In the match, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first. RR scored 150 runs for the loss of three wickets, thanks to explosive batting from openers Vaibhav Suryawanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Suryawanshi made 39 runs off 14 balls, hitting five sixes and one four, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten at 77 runs off 32 balls, including four sixes and ten fours.
Chasing a target of 151, MI never looked in contention for victory, managing only 123 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 11 overs, thus losing by 27 runs. For RR, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande took one wicket each, while Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma, and Ravi Bishnoi claimed two wickets each.
