Xiaomi Mix Flip review

Xiaomi Mix Flip

Xiaomi has finally entered the flip market and is a versatile manufacturer. We wouldn’t have had it any other way, as the first Mix Flip was released in the 6th generation and was a very popular Galaxy Flip.

Xiaomi Mix Flip is a thin, elegant and compact folding device based on the latest trends. It features a glass panel, an aluminum frame and stainless steel hinges. Its most striking external feature is perhaps the large 4-inch OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision certification that supports full apps and widgets simultaneously. In addition, it also functions as a viewfinder for the rear camera.

The main folding screen is a 6.86-inch LTPO OLED display with 1224p resolution, 10-bit color depth, 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. It offers a maximum brightness of 3000 nits.

The Mix Flip runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with 12 or 16GB of RAM, which is comparable in performance to the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Xiaomi has placed a dual 50-megapixel camera on the back, which can also be used to take selfies. The main camera is a 50-megapixel OIS camera and the secondary camera is a 50-megapixel zoom all-in-one with a floating lens that offers 2x optical zoom, 4x hybrid zoom and macro options from a distance of only 9 cm offers. There is no ultra-wide-angle camera, but the 23mm wide-angle lens is sufficient.

The Xiaomi Mix Flip has a capacity of 4,780mAh, which is one of the largest batteries in a Flip, and supports 67W wired fast charging. What’s even better is that this phone comes with such a charger. Oh, spoiler alert.

Of course, Mix Flip runs on HyperOS. It is currently available in China, but the global launch is scheduled for August.

One obvious flaw is water resistance. Most phones, including the Flip, are at least IPX7 certified. The latest Galaxy Z Flip6 also has an IP48 rating, which is great. Maybe international mix flips will receive some protection from intruders, maybe not. We believe that there is currently a lack of any kind of waterproofing.
