New Delhi, April 15 (Udaipur Kiran): Severe heat conditions continue across North India, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius in several states and heatwave warnings in place. However, there is some relief expected as rain and hail alerts have been issued for multiple regions over the coming days.
According to the weather department, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to receive rain and snowfall between April 16 and 19. Strong winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph are also expected in these regions. Hailstorms are likely on April 17 in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, while Uttarakhand may witness light rainfall on the same day. Himachal Pradesh is expected to receive scattered rain between April 17 and 19.
In the Northeast, Arunachal Pradesh may witness rainfall with thunderstorms on April 15, 18, and 19. Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive rain and lightning on April 17 and 18, while Nagaland may experience similar conditions on April 18. Hail activity is also expected at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya on April 15.
Eastern India is also expected to see changing weather patterns. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may receive rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between April 15 and 19. Gangetic West Bengal may witness thunderstorms and strong winds on April 16, while Odisha is likely to experience similar conditions between April 15 and 20.
In South India, interior Karnataka may receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds on April 18 and 19. Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may witness lightning activity on April 17 and 18. Meanwhile, parts of central Maharashtra in western India are likely to receive rainfall between April 18 and 21.
Despite these developments, maximum temperatures across northwest, central, and eastern India are expected to remain above normal this week. Heatwave conditions may also affect parts of central, eastern, western, and southern India.
