The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert across multiple districts in the state, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h through May 23.
Weather Turns Pleasant Despite Rising Temperatures
On Tuesday, Ranchi recorded a temperature 3.4°C below normal, thanks to intermittent cloud cover and post-noon weather changes. On Monday, residents of Ranchi and nearby areas experienced a pleasant afternoon as moderate winds swept through the region under overcast skies, though no rain was recorded. In contrast, Tuesday morning began with bright sunshine, causing a noticeable uptick in perceived heat levels.
Despite this, rainfall in certain pockets kept overall temperatures from climbing too high. Notably, Khunti’s Adki block received 49.2 mm of rainfall, the highest recorded in the state over the last 24 hours.
