Tonk, October 20 (Udaipur Kiran): With water inflow into the Bisalpur Dam steadily decreasing, the dam’s only open gate is now close to being shut. Due to the reduced inflow over the past 13 hours, water discharge was lowered for the second time on Sunday night at 10 p.m.
On Monday, Gate No. 11 was opened just 5 centimetres, allowing a discharge of 300 cusecs per second. Earlier, on Sunday, the same gate was open by 10 centimetres, releasing 600 cusecs per second. On Saturday, it was opened 25 centimetres, releasing 1,503 cusecs per second.
Today marks the 89th consecutive day that the dam’s gates have remained open — the longest duration on record. Previously, the maximum recorded period of gate operation was 64 days.
According to experts, if the water inflow does not improve soon, the gate may have to be closed today or tomorrow. So far this monsoon season, approximately 130 TMC of water has been released from Bisalpur Dam into the Banas River.
