The Vivo Y300 Pro has just been launched in China, joining the company’s mid-range lineup. It’s a direct successor to the Y200 Pro that launched earlier this year, but despite its short lifespan it’s a significant upgrade.
The new Y300 Pro is powered by a 1st generation Snapdragon 6 chipset, which comes with 128/8GB memory and up to 512/12GB storage as standard. The display has also been improved and now measures 6.77 inches diagonally, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, 10-bit color depth and a maximum brightness of up to 5000 nits. This refers to a small spot on the screen that is likely to occur when playing HDR content.
The main camera has been replaced with a decent 50-megapixel f/1.8 aperture and 1/1.95-inch camera, albeit with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The resolution of the selfie camera has also increased from 16 MP to 32 MP with f/2.0 aperture.
The battery capacity has been increased from 5000 mAh to 6500 mAh and supports 80W wired charging. Perhaps that’s why the Y300 Pro weighs about 20 grams more than the Y200 Pro.
Oh, and liquid ingress protection is now IP65, better than the Y200 Pro’s IP54.
Available colors: black, ocean blue, titanium and white. The starting price is CNY 1,799 ($250) for the standard 8GB/128GB version, rising to CNY 2,499 ($350) for the upgraded 12GB/512GB configuration. The phone is still on pre-order and we don’t know if it will be released internationally, but the Y200 Pro is available in India, so we might see the Y300 Pro outside of China.
