Vivo is gearing up to roll out 5.5G (5G advanced or 5GA) updates to its flagship smartphones soon via OTA (Other-the-air) updates. The announcement of the newly launched Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo A comes days after China Mobile announced the commercial launch of its 5.5G network last week. The next-generation wireless technology can upgrade your existing 5G network and provide faster download speeds. The flagship Oppo Find X7 series is said to be the first device to support 5.5G networks.
The Chinese smartphone brand announced via Weibo that the Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo X100 series will receive 5.5G connectivity via an OTA update later this month. The iQoo 12 series and iQoo Neo 9 series under Vivo’s iQoo sub-brand will also be among the first to get 5.5G support.
Additionally, Vivo product manager Han Boxiao posted an image of the Vivo X100 Pro running on China Mobile’s 5.5G network on a Chinese microblog. Image download speed is 3619.19 Mbps and upload speed is 160.75 Mbps. 5.5G is expected to provide downlink speeds of up to 10 Gbps and uplink speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
China Mobile announced the commercial launch of 5.5G last week. Oppo then announced that it would integrate 5.5G into its Find X7 series of smartphones. 5.5G networks offer higher data speeds compared to current 5G networks.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra also gets 5.5G support in China. China Mobile plans to cover 300 cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, with its 5.5G network by the end of this year.
