New Delhi, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran): Star Indian batter Virat Kohli once again failed to open his account, getting dismissed for a duck in the second ODI of the India vs Australia series. Kohli faced four balls before being trapped LBW by Xavier Bartlett at the Adelaide Oval.
This marks Kohli’s second consecutive duck in the series. In the opening ODI at Perth, he had also been dismissed without scoring after facing eight deliveries, caught by Cooper Connolly off Mitchell Starc.
The 36-year-old right-hander made his return to the Indian team after a long break, having last appeared in the Champions Trophy final in March 2025, where he scored just one run off two balls. His recent poor form has now raised concerns among fans ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Interestingly, Adelaide has been one of Kohli’s most successful overseas venues. In five ODIs at this ground, he has scored 244 runs, including two centuries, at an average of 48.80. Apart from Kohli, Graeme Hick, David Warner, and Mark Waugh are the only other batters to have scored multiple ODI hundreds at this venue.
Meanwhile, India entered the Adelaide encounter aiming to level the three-match series 1–1 after losing the opening game in Perth by seven wickets under the Duckworth–Lewis method. On Australia’s bouncy track, Indian batters struggled against the pace attack.
India has played 15 ODIs at Adelaide, winning nine, losing five, and drawing one. The team will look to capitalize on its strong record here to stay alive in the series.
