Mumbai, June 11: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has expressed its support for Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel’s initiative aimed at addressing issues related to conversion and ‘love jihad.’ National spokesperson Shri Raj Nair emphasized the need for stringent laws across the country to ensure the dignity and social security of women.
Nair highlighted the alarming rise in conversion cases in various parts of the country, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where the Governor has directed the establishment of special cells in all medical institutions to prevent conversions. He stated that the VHP supports the Governor’s concerns and proposed measures regarding these issues.
According to Nair, many conversion cases have emerged in recent years, often involving allegations of coercion, fear, or deceit. He stressed that such activities could disrupt the social fabric, necessitating effective control measures. The establishment of a conversion-control cell in Uttar Pradesh would be a positive step, he noted, advocating for a structured approach to monitor and investigate these cases.
Nair further asserted that not only Uttar Pradesh but the entire nation requires a uniform and stringent legal framework to address conversion-related matters. He called for serious national discourse and the formulation of effective laws to prevent such incidents.
In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, Nair extended his best wishes, acknowledging the significant developmental strides made under his leadership. He praised the government’s initiatives in infrastructure, digital services, social welfare schemes, and economic reforms, which have positively impacted various segments of society.
Nair also mentioned that the current government has taken several decisions that align with the preservation of Indian culture, traditions, and social values, specifically highlighting efforts related to cow protection, the conservation of the Ganga River, and cultural heritage. He emphasized that a policy integrating development with cultural preservation is crucial for the nation’s overall progress.
