Shamli, October 24 (Udaipur Kiran): Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday night shot dead Faisal, a notorious sharpshooter of the Sanjeev Jeeva gang, during an encounter in Shamli district. Faisal, who carried a reward of ₹1 lakh, was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and extortion.

The encounter took place late Thursday night in the Bhogimajra forest area near Vedkhedi Road under Jhinjhana police station limits. Acting on information about a robbery incident, a joint team of Jhinjhana police and SOG (Special Operations Group) reached the spot, where the accused opened fire at the police.
In retaliatory firing, one of the criminals was hit and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, where he was identified as Faisal, a resident of Khalapar, Muzaffarnagar. Another accomplice managed to escape in the dark, and police have launched a combing operation to trace him.
Details of the Incident
Around 8 p.m., some miscreants allegedly robbed a local resident, Jeet Ram, of cash, his mobile phone, and motorcycle on Vedkhedi Road. On receiving the alert, police teams arrived, leading to a fierce gunfight.
During the exchange, SOG constable Deepak Nirwan sustained a bullet injury and was rushed to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Police recovered two motorcycles, two pistols, several live cartridges, and spent shells from the encounter site.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Pratap Singh confirmed that the slain criminal was a key member of the Sanjeev Jeeva gang. “He was wanted in multiple cases of murder, robbery, and extortion registered across several police stations. A reward of ₹1 lakh had been announced on his arrest,” the SP said.
Senior officers, including SP Singh, inspected the encounter site and met the injured constable at the hospital. Following the incident, security has been tightened across the area, and teams are actively pursuing the absconding accomplice.
