Jaipur, March 30 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Special Unit, Udaipur, has arrested Devendra Singh Ranawat, Land Records Inspector, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. He was posted at Tehsil Office Vallabhnagar, Udaipur.

According to ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta, a complaint was received on February 13, 2026, stating that the complainant owns around five bighas of agricultural land in village Ranakui under Patwar Halka Gotipa, Tehsil Vallabhnagar. Due to an error during segregation proceedings, the land was incorrectly recorded as “building” instead of “Barani Tritiya”.
The complainant had submitted an application before the Tehsildar Vallabhnagar for correction of records. During the process, the accused allegedly demanded ₹15,000 to get the land classification corrected and updated in official records through his RPG ID after approval from the Tehsildar.
Under the supervision of ACB Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr Rameshwar Singh, verification of the bribe demand was conducted on February 13 and February 23, 2026. The demand was found to be genuine.
Following confirmation, a trap was laid under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Rajeev Joshi and Police Inspector Laxmanlal Dangi. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.
During verification, the accused had indicated that the correction order would be obtained from the Tehsildar Vallabhnagar. The role of the Tehsildar has been termed suspicious in the matter.
Further investigation and interrogation are underway under the supervision of ACB Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further action is in progress.
