
Udaipur : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Special Unit, Udaipur Unit, arrested the Executive Engineer of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, Avais Mohammad, on Thursday for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
ACB Director General (Additional Charge) Hemant Priyadarshi said that a complaint was received from a contractor that Avais Mohammad was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 in return for clearing the pending bills of his firm for maintenance and upkeep of various gardens in Udaipur Municipal Corporation.
On the direction of ACB Udaipur Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajendra Prasad Goyel, the complaint was verified by the ACB Special Unit, Udaipur Unit, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Umashankar Ojha.
On Thursday, Inspector Ratansinh Rajpurohit and his team laid a trap and arrested Avais Mohammad, son of Sabir Mohammad, resident of 260, Mukherjee Chowk, Sabzi Mandi, Udaipur, and present Executive Engineer, Office of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the contractor.
